About Cash and Carry
(A Forthright Candid Impression of Sir Ken Morrison)Cash and Carry is a tribute to the outstanding achievements of Sir Ken Morrison.
This collage impression is the third in the series of famous Bradfordians, the other two, David Hockney and J B Priestley, were exhibited at the PoP Up Gallery in Centenary Square in January 2011and the Handmade in Bradford Gallery in November/ December 2012.
The picture was offered to Wm Morrison Supermarkets PLC; it was accepted and now hangs in their head office at Hilmore House, Gain Lane, Bradford.
The impresion also contains the original ‘M’ logo associated with Sir Ken’s time in charge at Morrisons and the Jowett Bradford van, decked out in the yellow livery of Morrisons Provisions, reminds the viewer that the Enterprise 5 site at Five Lane Ends, is built on the original Jowett factory site. Sir Ken is also wearing his ‘lucky’ yellow/ blue striped tie! The impression is a collage of over 4,000 modern British used postage stamps.
